Postponed.
But the story is worth being told.
The Story
It started over breakfast.
Bianca was taking selfies. Naomi was reading a heavy metal magazine. Scarlett was drinking coffee. Violet was behind the camera. Nobody was thinking about a new campaign.
At least, almost nobody.
A second selfie followed. Naomi pointed something out in the magazine, Scarlett looked over, and somewhere between breakfast and the next cup of coffee, Scarlett saw a shoe.
Creating the Metal Queen High Heel
Scarlett disappeared into her design lab.
The idea was simple only in theory: take the attitude of 1980s heavy metal and turn it into a Scarlett Heels design. Black leather. A towering platform. A razor-thin heel. Studs everywhere. And just enough Scarlett Heels luxury to keep it from becoming a costume.
By the time Scarlett showed the result to the others, Naomi was already completely sold.
Styling Naomi
There was only one obvious candidate for the first Metal Queen.
Bianca took over the Beauty Palace. Scarlett helped. Naomi submitted herself to an entirely unnecessary amount of 1980s hair, makeup and leather.
The Campaign Pictures
The photo shoot was supposed to be a campaign.
Naomi had other ideas.
Why Should Naomi Have All the Fun?
Apparently, this was the question nobody had thought to ask.
Bianca wanted a bass. Violet wanted drums. Scarlett claimed the microphone. Within minutes, the campaign had stopped being a campaign and become a full-blown 1980s hard-rock fantasy.
They played. They posed. They headbanged. They completely lost whatever remained of their dignity.
By the time they made it backstage, the distinction between photo shoot and genuine rock concert had disappeared completely.
Champagne was flying. Even Mötley Crüe would have blushed.
The Songs
A campaign like this needed a soundtrack. Scarlett asked a befriended band if they could come up with a song.
They came back with two.
The first was the version commissioned for the campaign: a classic 1980s hard-rock power ballad.
The second file was labelled simply: ROCK — DO NOT USE
Naturally, both recordings survived.
